Mark Simpson Quits As Seacom CEO, Brian Herlihy Back As Boss(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SEACOM today announced that CEO Mark Simpson has decided to leave the company to pursue personal interests. This is according to a statement released from the company on Thursday. Mr Simpson has lead the business from a successful project finance initiative into a dynamic broadband subsea cable operator. SEACOM founder and former CEO Brian Herlihy is to resume the leadership role at the company. As CEO, Herlihy will be tasked with continuing the expansion of SEACOM's product offering and customer service offering into Africa and beyond. SEACOM operates a 17,000km subsea broadband cable that connectsEast and West Coast of Africa .However, SEACOM's reach extends to and from Europe, India and Asia. The pan-African network uses bundled backhaul, open access points of presence (PoPs) and global partnerships to provide end-to-end wholesale connectivity around the world for African network operators. In service since July 2009, SEACOM has increased the availability of International bandwidth ten-fold and more so in many of Africa's most underserved nations. The only privately funded and truly neutral carrier in its market, SEACOM also offers a comprehensive suite of Internet Protocol (IP) and clear channel services to the wholesale market.
