Turkcell's Superonline acquires Turkish communication services provider Metronet for EUR 10mn. [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports]
(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Turkey's largest mobile operator Turkcell informed in a filing with the Bourse Istanbul on Tuesday that its 100% fiber internet services provider Superonline signed a share purchase agreement with ES Mali Yatirim ve Danismanlik in order to acquire a 100% full stake in the latter's communication services, including internet, voice and digital services to corporate and private customers, providing unit Metronet Iletisim Teknoloji for a consideration of TRY 29mn (EUR 10mn).
Metronet operates with a paid-in capital of TRY 97.7mn and the deal is subject to the required approvals from the Turkish competition board, and information and communication technologies authority (TIB), the statement detailed.
Superonline will increase the number of cities it provides fiber internet services to 14 from the current 12 and will add 100,000 new houses to its fiber internet network when it completes the acquisition of Metronet, according to the statement.
Turkcell currently has a fiber network of 33,000km.
In July 2013, Turkcell informed that Superonline had completed the acquisition of 100% stake in Deksarnet Telecom. Superonline paid USD 1.75mn for the stakes it purchased from the BIST-100 listed company Vestel Elektronik Sanayi.
