MTS Connects to iBasis' Multiservice IPX for GRX, 2G/3G and LTE Roaming

BURLINGTON, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

iBasis, a KPN company, announced that MTS (News - Alert) (OJSC Mobile TeleSystems), the leading telecommunications provider in Russia and the CIS, has selected iBasis as the primary provider of IPX services to enable LTE (News - Alert) Roaming, as a result of an open tender process.

Through the IPX interconnect, iBasis is providing multiple services including GRX, covering both 2G/3G and LTE data roaming, as well as the iBasis (News - Alert) LTE Signaling Exchange (LSX) service for the exchange of Diameter signaling between LTE networks. The multiservice nature of the iBasis IPX and its rich suite of voice and data services paves the way for MTS to offer its subscribers the full range of LTE roaming services.

"We are experiencing a rapid increase in the demand for our multiservice IPX capabilities, especially as more and more operators implement LTE and recognize the challenges of international LTE Signaling and Roaming," said Willem Offerhaus, President and CEO of iBasis. "As an innovative service provider, MTS is taking steps to ensure that it continues to provide the highest quality services for its customers. We're very pleased to partner with them to help them leverage IPX to achieve their goals."

The iBasis LTE Signaling eXchange (LSX) service provides a single point of access to iBasis' live 4G (LTE) signaling networkwith Diameter Routing Agents in key locations around the world and complemented with 2G and 3G MAP Signaling interworking services to non-LTE networks. Through direct connections to many mobile operators' LTE networks and its open peering policy, iBasis delivers a global LTE Roaming footprint that reaches approximately 60 LTE networks. In addition, iBasis offers a trial environment for testing LTE interworking and roaming scenarios.
