Cherry Creek School District Selects Schoology LMS, Cites Integration with PowerSchool and Third-party Resources

DENVER --(Business Wire)--

Cherry Creek School District in Colorado recently purchased Schoology for every school in the district and now its 3,700 teachers and their students are better connected and working together in collaborative learning, curriculum development and course management. The district cited many reasons for selecting Schoology as its learning management system (LMS) including its integration with PowerSchool ®, the fastest-growing, most widely used student information system (SIS).

"Schoology met a number of our needs for improved communication and collaboration, but the management features and tie in to PowerSchool were very important for our district," said Kellie Ady, coordinator of instructional technology at Cherry Creek School District. "Schoology allos us to cleanly and easily share content and data between multiple systems. We can do tasks we never could before, like automatically grab enrollment data and share that with our PowerSchool SIS."

In addition to its strength as an administrative tool, Schoology makes the learning experience more exciting and resource-rich for students while letting teachers embed and use resources from other third-party vendors. Schoology has a familiar user-friendly interface and for a district of 52,000 students and over 60 schools, ease of use is critical. "Schoology has an intuitive user interface that encourages teachers to hop on board," said Ms. Ady. "A large group of early adopters were teachers who haven't always been comfortable using technology in the classroom. Schoology helped them embrace a digital teaching and learning environment in new ways."

Cherry Creek teachers are using Schoology for professional development and peer collaboration with PLCs and in their own classrooms. Schoology is helping teachers explore new instructional goals like assessment and standards alignment. Teachers can even use rubrics for grading which makes it possible to run every element of the classroom within Schoology.

"Parent communication is amped up with Schoology," said Ms. Ady. "With PowerSchool, parents can monitor their child's progress but Schoology invites parents to be an active participant in learning. The combination of Schoology with PowerSchool is very powerful."

More than four million users at over 50,000 universities, colleges and K-12 schools use Schoology to boost student engagement and streamline curriculum development and management.
