TUESDAY, February 4 at 10 a.m. Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security Future of the Homeland Security Missions of the Coast Guard 311 Cannon House Office Building Invited Witness Includes: * Admiral Robert J. Papp, Jr., Commandant, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman Candice Miller (R-MI) on the hearing: "Since September 11th, we have seen maritime security threats evolve - from terrorism, to narcotics and human smuggling, the United States Coast Guard (USGC) has been called upon to perform critical homeland security missions to protect our nation and its interests. Our committee will hear from Admiral Papp, Commandant of the USCG, on the future of its homeland security missions and examine the resources needed to carry out the USCG's core maritime security missions." WEDNESDAY, February 5 at 10 a.m. Homeland Security Committee Markup 311 Cannon House Office Building * H.R. 3696, the "National Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection Act of 2013", introduced by Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) and Subcommittee Chairman Patrick Meehan (R-PA), to amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to make certain improvements regarding cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection, and for other purposes. THURSDAY, February 6 at 10 a.m. Subcommittee on Oversight and Management Efficiency Examining Challenges and Wasted Taxpayer Dollars in Modernizing Border Security IT Systems 311 Cannon House Office Building Invited Witnesses Include: * Mr. David A. Powner, Director, Information Technology Management Issues, U.S. Government Accountability Office; * Mr. Charles R. Armstrong, Assistant Commissioner of the Office of Information and Technology, Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Homeland Security * Mr. Thomas P. Michelli, Chief Information Officer, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman Jeff Duncan (R-SC) on the hearing: "This hearing will examine DHS's efforts to modernize key information technology (IT) systems used by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), specifically the TECS modernization program. The TECS system helps determine the admissibility of persons to the U.S., secure the border and share information on security threats. In light of the Government Accountability Office's recent report outlining missed deadlines and poor performance, this hearing will be an ideal time to shine a light on the efforts of CBP and ICE.
