Tacoma's IID, an Internet security company, hires new leaders [The News Tribune (Tacoma, Wash.) :: ]

(News Tribune (Tacoma, WA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jan. 31--Tacoma-based Internet security company IID said Friday it was hiring three new executives, the latest signal of the company's rising profile.

In November it announced an $8 million capital investment for its signature product, ActiveTrust, which is only selectively available now. It's a tool that allows businesses, government agencies and other organizations to share information about cyberattacks in real time.

The new executives expand the company's leadership from five to eight and include the company's first chief financial officer and chief information security officer.

Ben King, the new CFO, held that role most recently at PhaseOne Communications. He also has held leadership positions at Fox Broadcasting Company Digital Group and Pricewaterhouse Cooper.

Merike Kaeo, the new CISO, has worked for IID for a year before being promoted. Before that she founded her own company, and previously worked for Cisco, where she wrote the company's first book on security.

Mark Foege is IID's newest vice president of marketing. He has worked for Townsend Security and also has founded his own company.

CEO Lars Harvey said the company, with offices in downtown Tacoma, also has grown by 21 employees since 2012 for a total of 72 now.
