TOMORROW: LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy to Join School Choice Supporters at Rally and CelebrationLOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)-- Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent John Deasy will join students, parents, teachers and community leaders at a National School Choice Week whistle-stop event in Los Angeles on Thursday, January 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Los Angeles Union Station. The event, which is designed to show support for increased education options for California families, is part of the cross-country whistle-stop tour organized by National School Choice Week, which runs from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1. National School Choice Week - which will feature more than 5,500 independently-planned events across the country - will be the nation's largest-ever celebration of educational opportunity. Additional speakers include Shirley Ford and Ben Austin of Parent Revolution (News - Alert); Yvonne Chan from Vaughn Next Century Learning Center Charter Schools; Julie Collier of Parents Advocate League, as well as students and parents. The event is hosted by National School Choice Week in partnership with The Center for Education Reform, Foundation for Parent Empowerment, GreatSchools.org, Los Angeles Unified School District, Options For Youth, Opportunities for Learning Public Charter School, Parents Advocate League, Parent Revolution, Pathways In Education, PublicSchoolOptions.org, StudentsFirst, K12, and Vaughn Next Century Learning Center.
