Allegiance Names Al Nevarez as VP of Data Science

SALT LAKE CITY --(Business Wire)--

Allegiance (News - Alert), a provider of retention management technology and services, today announced that it has named Al Nevarez to the newly created position of vice president of data science, reporting to CEO Carine Clark. Nevarez, who was previously vice president of product management at Allegiance, will focus on the next generation of intelligent products designed to quickly uncover actionable insights in customer data.

Nevarez is the inventor of Allegiance's award winning and patent pending Spotlight data mining product, an advanced analytics tool with unprecedented ease of use. Under Nevarez's direction, the new data science team will seek to invent tools with the intelligent characteristics of a Google search or an Amazon recommendation, yet with the simplicity of an iPhone (News - Alert) app. The team will focus on creating products that automatically discover useful insights that drive great customer experience, operational efficiency, and financial strength in clients' offerings.

The data science role has evolved into a critical function in business. Data scientists develop compelling products and experiences around massive amounts of data. As noted by Leena Rao in TechCrunch: "Now data-mining experts and talent, especially those who can develop compelling products and experiences around massive amounts of data, are among the most desirable talent hires in the technology world, both at companies and VC firms."

"Many businesses are now capitalizing on data, machine learning algorithms, and computing power to drive real value, user engagement, and profit. These approaches also work well for Voice of Customer data," said Nevarez. "Spotlight data mining has been transformative for our clients. As our core product continues to evolve, the additional focus on data science will ensure our clients can discover all the advantages their data provides today and into the future."

"The focus on data science is a great opportunity for innovation and new revenue for Allegiance. Software that is able to process and create valuable insights from this data will be integral to the success of this effort," said Carine Clark, president and CEO of Allegiance. "Al has that rare combination of business and technical acumen combined with a healthy disregard for what's not possible. These are great traits for data science, which often has little precedent in traditional products."

Nevarez started his career at Ford Motor Company (News - Alert), where he worked in the US and Japan in engineering and marketing on several of the most technically advanced vehicles of their time. Nevarez studied mechanical engineering and computer science and received a master's degree in engineering from Stanford University.
