Aptina Delivers New Imaging Solutions for Automotive Viewing Applications

SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Aptina, a global provider of image sensors and imaging solutions to worldwide automotive manufacturers and OEMs, today announced their ASX350AT system-on-chip (SOC) and the AR0140AT image sensor. These new products enhance Aptina's industry leading product portfolio to address the broad range of automotive viewing applications.

The Aptina ASX350AT is a 1/5-inch optical format SOC, with VGA resolution output that provides excellent lowlight performance. These specifications make it ideal for vehicle manufacturers designing cost effective rear view camera (RVC) systems to comply with potential requirements from the NHTSA. It supports NTSC/PAL interfaces and features dynamic overlay capability, an on-chip temperature sensor for system feedback and additional optical pixels to assist lens alignment during camera manufacturing. The ASX350AT SOC imaging solution allows integrators to rapidly design rear view camera systems without needing additional processors.

The Aptina AR0140AT is a 1/4-inch, 1-megapixel high-performance image sensor that provides tier-1 auto manufacturers wih high dynamic range (HDR (News - Alert)) capture of up to 96dB or linear capture, and a low light sensitive 3.0-µm pixel with Aptina™ DR-PIX™ technology. The on-chip statistics engine and temperature monitoring improves overall camera system control and protection. When combined with Aptina's co-processor, the AP0100AT, the AR0140AT enables a high-performance 720p rear view camera solution with multiple dynamic colored overlays, perspective and lens distortion correction, extended de-warp capabilities with options for front/side viewing and images to assist the driver that are split into three sections (Triptych viewing).

"Aptina specifically designed these two new image sensors to meet the automotive industry's rigorous viewing requirements," said Michael Brading, Aptina's CTO for automotive and surveillance solutions. "With ten years of experience delivering imaging solutions specifically for the automotive industry, these two new products are powerful additions to Aptina's industry leading automotive product portfolio."

The ASX350AT and the AR0140AT are AEC-Q100 qualified with an operating temperature range of -40ºC to +105ºC and are in production now.

Aptina will highlight and demonstrate its imaging solutions at their hospitality suite during the 2014 International CES (News - Alert) January 7 - 10.
