Retriever Communications Achieves 2013 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Field Service Management

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 12/18/13 -- Just a year after its push into the US, Retriever Communications, a global provider of mobile field force automation, today announced significant milestones from the analyst community. For the first time, Gartner placed Retriever on its Magic Quadrant for Field Service Management in the niche quadrant, a key accomplishment for the company. This was the second report placement, as analyst firm InfoTech Research named Retriever as an emerging player earlier in 2013 for its Field Service Automation Vendor Landscape report. Recently, Retriever was also named Entrepreneurial Company of the Year for Industrial Mobility by research firm Frost & Sullivan.

"2013 was an important year for Retriever -- as a company, we achieved many product and corporate milestones, and having the analyst community recognize the work is an important step forward in our continued growth," said Mary Brittain-White, CEO of Retriever Communications. "While there are many ways to solve the enterprise mobility challenge, if a company doesn't focus on addressing the specific requirements of each user role and their workflows solutions won't be effective. Our approach has always been best-in-class and the validation from the analyst community is a great proof point for our work." According to the Gartner report, Field Service Management Magic Quadrant all vendors "have demonstrated their ability to provide licensed, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or multiple delivery options that support field service for enterprise customers across a range of industries." Gartner noted Retriever Communications is the only vendor in the Magic Quadrant that has taken a mobile first approach to field service -- that is, Retriever has historically focused on the field end user by offering a robust mobile platform and then adding field service optimization capabilities afterward. It's this mobile-first approach that has helped Retriever deploy customers, such as Emerson Power, Ecolabs and Dalkia.

An emerging player on InfoTech's vendor landscape, Retriever's mobile-centric heritage was also an important factor in placement as the research firm mentioned the platform's support of various devices and tablets as one of its strengths. Frost & Sullivan honored the company with its prestigious Global Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award. Given in the category of industrial mobile applications, Retriever was selected due to its focus of the business user at the center of the development process, flexible and scalable mobile application platform and deep understanding of the mobility market.

"Retriever operates in an emerging yet competitive market of industrial mobile applications, full of established participants. However, its unique technology, flexibility, extensibility, reliability and business user-centric model gives Retriever a distinct competitive advantage," said Naveen Kumar Ramasamy, senior industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "The value proposition is that Retriever not only sells solutions, but also offers SaaS-based alternatives. This is a major revenue generator for Retriever that also strengthens field force automation for end users in energy and mining. With these capabilities, Frost & Sullivan is convinced of Retriever's future success in new markets and geographies."
