Virtustream Collaborates with Intel to Launch Big Data as a Service Using SAP HANA and Intel® Distribution for ApacheTM Hadoop® Software

Virtustream, the leading enterprise class cloud software (xStream) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider, today announced that it is collaborating with Intel (News - Alert) to deliver the HANA-Hadoop Managed Service for big data analytics. By using the Intel Distribution for Apache Hadoop (IDH) in conjunction with Virtustream's xStream cloud management software and Virtustream's HANA Managed Service, the solution will enable customers to analyze large data sets in the cloud, and at high speed.

As an in-memory database, AP HANA allows highly accelerated reporting and analytics, while Hadoop enables users to process large sets of unstructured data. Combining both environments with Virtustream's SAP HANA-certified cloud enables customers to gain agility, scalability and a consumption-based pricing model. Customers can setup quickly, with no CapEx requirement and access to HANA and Hadoop database engineers, and deploy the solution in a matter of weeks rather than months.

Virtustream's portfolio also includes expertise in migrating the entire portfolio of SAP applications to the cloud. In May, the company launched their SAP HANA Managed Service and successfully deployed the first SAP ECC-on-HANA in production in the cloud.
