L'Oreal Uruguay to Leverage IBM PureSystems

Jul 17, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- L'Oreal, a cosmetics company, has selected IBM PureSystems to provide a new private cloud-based, smarter computing infrastructure for its operations in Uruguay.

In a release, the Company said that by consolidating onto PureSystems, it has been able to significantly reduce its power consumption and the overall size of its IT infrastructure.

L'Oreal Uruguay needed to modernize its IT environment to provide a secure and cloud-ready infrastructure that would be capable of meeting the company's business growth strategy. IBM PureFlex, with a centralized environment, single point of administration and the flexibility to create new virtual systems provided L'Oreal with the IT backbone needed to expand operations into the cloud and deliver the latest personalized offerings for customers.

"At L'Oreal Uruguay we are focused on providing products and services of the highest quality to our customers," said Fernando Lovera, IT Manager L'Oreal Uruguay. "IBM PureFlex will allow us to improve our levels of availability and continue our growth plans in the country. It adds greater simplicity and flexibility to our IT management, allowing us to reduce energy consumption and total space of our infrastructure, two key elements in the current competitive landscape." PureFlex combines all of L'Oreal's compute, storage, network, virtualization and management into a single system that is able to anticipate infrastructure needs and optimize resources. This solution also includes integrated patterns of knowledge designed to automate and optimize the deployment and maintenance of their workloads, improving the efficiency of IT systems.

"IBM PureSystems are key to helping our customers to upgrade their existing infrastructure," said, Nicolas Saiz, Sales Specialist IBM Uruguay. "As a result of deploying these expert integrated systems, clients such as L'Oreal are able to run infrastructures that are simple, flexible, open and efficient." The IBM PureSystems family offers clients an alternative to current enterprise computing models, where multiple and disparate systems require significant resources to set up and maintain. The PureFlex System enables organizations to create and manage an infrastructure. PureApplication Systems help organizations reduce the cost and complexity of deploying and managing applications. PureData Systems are tuned for cloud computing and can consolidate more than 100 databases on a single system. In addition to the common web application patterns supported by PureApplication System, the combination of both PureData and PureApplication Systems can be used for end to end transaction workloads.
