BRIEF: Seniors celebrate Flag DayJun 18, 2013 (Corning Observer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Corning Senior Center hosted a Flag Day turkey dinner on Friday. The full course dinner was prepared and served to more than 80 seniors by Senior Center Coordinator Lin Lima and her crew of volunteers. The turkeys were donated by the Corning Volunteer Fire Department, which has a long record of assisting the center. "It was a grand day to have so many senior participate," Lima said. Special emphasis was placed on Flag Day with Esther Hall leading the participants in a rousing sing along of "God Bless America." Lima had all of the veterans in the room stand for recognition and applause. The Corning Senior Citizens Center is opened from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with senior lunches served at 11:30 a.m. by Tehama County Senior Nutrition.
