"With regard to Mona Charen's criticism of Stephen Hawking for not appearing at an Israeli academic conference: Apparently Mona Charen doesn't know that British academics in general -- like academics from many other countries -- have ceased all cooperation with Israeli academics because of what they consider to be the Israeli cruelty toward Palestinians. So it's nothing unusual about him not showing up. None of the British academics would have shown up." I'd like to bust them down to privates, put a freeze on any pensions they have coming, have their uniforms stripped of all rank and then fire them from the Army. " Robertson replies: Actually, the idea of providing low-income Americans with subsidized phone service has roots in the Reagan administration after the breakup of AT&T in 1984. Newt Gingrich and President Bill Clinton expanded it to include cellphones or landlines and formalized it in the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Telecommunications companies pay for the service through an independent not-for-profit -- no tax money involved. "I believe there were several inconsistencies and inaccuracies from a Trib Talk caller regarding Benghazi. First, a high-ranking State Department official testified before Congress that a lack of funds had nothing to do with the denied request for additional security. She testified that there was not a shortage of money. The day after the attack, the president made a one-sentence statement saying terrorist attacks would not be tolerated. But then, for days - - even weeks -- later, the only thing he had to say about the incident was to talk about the YouTube video. And the question of not sending immediate military support has been hotly debated by military members, current and retired. At least one critic of the handling of the affair before, during and after has been demoted. And yes, people were rescued from Benghazi. Members of Congress, much less the American public, have not seen these people and heard their stories. I find it strange that in this day and age of constant news coverage we have not seen or heard from these people. We haven't seen them on '60 Minutes.' Three of them did appear with their attorneys to testify before Congress, but we haven't heard from the rest of them. That's weird." "I like how everybody is getting so excited about the government collecting data on us. Everybody is so worried about our privacy, but every day we tell our local grocery store when we check out what kind of toilet paper we bought or what kind of toothpaste we have. We don't worry about all the times we are asked online about our mother's maiden name and/or what groceries you buy and where you live and what your son's name is and what your local address is.
