[June 18, 2013] Car hits pickup, bus shelter in Victorville Tweet VICTORVILLE, Jun 18, 2013 (Daily Press - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A woman was airlifted Tuesday afternoon with moderate injuries after her car collided with a pickup truck and crashed into a bus stop on Park Avenue, and another car hit an ambulance minutes later, authorities said. A gray Toyota Corolla was traveling west on Anacapa Road at approximately 1 p.m. and failed to stop at a stop sign, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials. The car hit a large white Chevy Silverado pickup on Park Avenue before hitting a bus stop shelter. No one was in the bus shelter at the time of the crash, officials said. San Bernardino County Fire Department stations 311 and 314 responded to the scene along with two American Medical Response ambulances and several units from the Victorville Sheriff's Station. Two helicopters were called to the scene; California Highway Patrol helicopter took photos and video of the scene and an Upland Fire helicopter transported the injured woman. When fire personnel arrived on the scene the female driver of the Toyota was trapped in the vehicle and Jaws of Life tools were used to extricate her. The woman was flown to a trauma center with moderate injuries. Her name was not released. The driver of the truck, an unidentified male, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. Just minutes after the first collision, an AMR ambulance was broadsided near the scene by a Honda Accord that was traveling at about 15 miles per hour. The female driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries. "The woman failed to yield," said Sgt. Tim Jordan of the Victorville Station. "The woman driving the Honda was trying to make a left turn and turned into the ambulance." Park Avenue was closed in both directions for about an hour after the crash.
