Apple's Foreseeable Downturn (AAPL, NOK,MSFT)

Jun 18, 2013 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- The shine of brushed aluminum and glass wore off evidently towards the end of last year as Apple's(NASDAQ:AAPL) stock price tumbled its longest drop in a few years. Such a tremendous change begs an explanation that cannot be pawned off on faulty or dangerous products or lack of quality. Given the nature of the technology industry, minor glitches and malfunctions are inevitable and iPhones are not, nor have they ever been, different in this sense from any other new device or software. So why did iPhone 5 software issues like Maps, which did not function properly have their own segments on the 6 o'clock news at launch? Such symptoms can be explained by the arrival of the inescapable lackluster in Apple's design philosophy. The soft edges and glossy screens are still just as appealing as when they were introduced, but the omnipresence of the architecture that Apple has pushed on all of its products has dulled the consumer's sense of wonder at each new phone or tablet. We are beginning to see features appreciated on other devices now integrated into new devices and software. For instance, the iPhone 5's form was created based on the appeal of the wider screens on Galaxy phones and the upcoming iOS7 has revised its design in such a way that almost parallels the color schemes and modernism in Windows 8 (NASDAQ:MSFT). And not only is Apple conforming to market trends, but Samsung and Nokia (NYSE:NOK) among other hardware developers have been encroaching upon the style that the iPhone invented as well.

This is not the end, however and, given the context, can be perceived as a minor and necessary dip as Apple evolves its products in a way that will define the company on the inside and not just on the shiny exterior. Behind the melding of diversity in fashion Apple is focusing on building its user friendliness, a front that it has a powerful lead in. Streamlining and enhanced office fluidity make it an appealing alternative for workflow management. Such changes are seen inside the shell of iOS 7, which has an entirely different direction than its competitors. While other operating systems seemingly aim at miniaturizing the desktop computer, Apple's devices move towards evolving both form and function together.
