OROLIA :Kannad Aviation reveals the 'ARINC e-Nav' interface, which allows the Integra distress beacon to be coupled to the GPS on-board aircraft

(Thomson Reuters ONE via COMTEX) -- Paris Air Show Le Bourget : Kannad Aviation reveals the 'ARINC e-Nav' interface, which allows the Integra distress beacon to be coupled to the GPS on-board aircraft In addition to its integrated GPS antenna, the Integra beacon now has a second GPS source available for even better redundancy and reliability Le Bourget, 18th June 2013 - Kannad Aviation, a business of the Orolia Group (NYSE Alternext Paris - FR0010501015 - ALORO), is revealing a new GPS interface for its Integra distress beacon at the International Paris Air Show Le Bourget. This interface provides a second, redundant GPS positioning source, which provides a significant advantage in terms of safety and reliability in transmitting the position of the aircraft. The inclusion of this second additional independent source of GPS signal represents a significant technological innovation for all aeronautic industry professionals (helicopters, aviation constructors, etc.), making the ELT Integra from Kannad Aviation one of the most reliable and smallest beacons on the market.

A dual positioning source: the GPS on-board the aircraft and the GPS integrated in the beacon The ARINC e-Nav interface allows the GPS position of an aircraft to be transmitted continuously from the on-board GPS to the beacon. This allows the Integra system to store and record the aircraft's position information in real-time.

The Integra ARINC e-Nav interface ensures that additional positioning data is obtained by receiving information from the on-board GPS. "When the beacon is activated, it automatically communicates with the internal GPS to determine its position. If it takes too long to connect to the GPS signal, or if there is an obstacle preventing the beacon's satellite access, the Integra system will communicate with the ARINC e-Nav interface so that it can transmit the last recorded position of the aircraft to the COSPAS-SARSAT satellites, within the first minute" explains Christian Belleux, Director of the Kannad Aviation Business Unit.

"With the combination of these two redundant GPS sources, the Integra system - which is already equipped with an integrated double Cospas-Sarsat antenna - is the most reliable distress beacon on the market and increases the efficiency of search and rescue operations in the event of an accident " A welcome innovation for the aviation safety industry "We are very proud to reveal this new innovation, which, in addition to improving aviation safety, reinforces our image as a 'trend-setter' on the emergency positioning market and positions the Integra as the most high-tech aeronautical distress beacon in the industry", explains Jean-Yves Courtois, CEO of the Orolia Group.

Unique technical features - (C) Photos supplied by: Orolia The smallest and lightest beacon on the market (only 755 g) - An integrated antenna, acting as a back-up in case of external antenna failure. This uses a patented system that detects the external antenna and automatically commutates with the integrated antenna.

- A fully autonomous integrated GPS receiver: the beacon, which emits its GPS position to the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system at regular intervals, can also be carried by the pilot, thus allowing him to move autonomously at a distance from the aircraft.

- Optional features: Interface Integra ARINC e-Nav providing back-up positioning data through receipt of information from the on-board GPS.
