Center for Internet Security Announces Partnership with U.S. Department of Homeland Security Stop.Think.Connect.™ Campaign

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. --(Business Wire)--

The Center for Internet Security (CIS) announced today that it has joined the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign's National Network, forming a partnership that will promote cybersecurity awareness to industry, university, and government organizations nationwide.

The Campaign will help provide CIS with tools and resources that support CIS in its mission to enhance the cyber security readiness and response of organizations in both the public and private sectors. CIS provides early warning cyber threat notifications, incident response, industry best practices for IT system security configurations, and aggregated purchasing opportunities for critical security solutions.

"As we adopt innovative electronics and spend more time online, Americans face increased risks to privacy and the security of our transactions," said Bruce McConnell, Deputy Under Secretary for Cybersecurity (Acting) at the Department of Homeland Security. "With the help of the Center for Iternet Security, the Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign will reach more Americans about their personal role in addressing cybersecurity risks. Through our joint efforts, we can help people across the country better protect themselves, their families, and their communities online."

"Cyber security risks know no geographic, organizational, or governmental boundaries, and so we must work collaboratively to address the challenges we face," said William F. Pelgrin, CIS president and CEO. "We are pleased to serve as a National Network member of the Stop.Think.Connect campaign and look forward to amplifying the important message of good cyber security practices."

Stop.Think.Connect. is an awareness effort designed to help Americans practice safer online habits. DHS, in partnership with the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Anti-Phishing Working Group lead the Campaign. The Campaign's National Network is an alliance of nonprofit organizations that promote cybersecurity awareness within their organizations and to their stakeholders.
