[June 18, 2013] BRIEF: Man shot in back fleeing would-be robbers in South Richmond Tweet RICHMOND, Jun 18, 2013 (Richmond Times-Dispatch - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A man was shot in the back as he was running away from a pair of would-be robbers before dawn today in South Richmond. The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center, where a report on his condition was not immediately available. The shooting was reported at 4:54 a.m. outside an apartment building in the 1500 block of Armfield Road, a short distance northeast of the intersection of Chippenham Parkway and Hull Street Road. The victim told police he was confronted by two black males who demanded his wallet, and when he turned and ran, he was shot in the back. Police were trying to determine if a gray Honda that was seen traveling nearby at a high rate of speed was related to the shooting. One of the suspects was described as 6 feet tall, thin and wearing a black shirt and black shorts. A detailed description of the other suspect was not given.
