Bell Aliant and Genband Jointly Honored with Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award [Health & Beauty Close - Up]

(Health & Beauty Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Bell Aliant, a regional communications provider, and Genband, a developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, have been jointly awarded the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award at their annual event in London, England on June 4.

In a release, the companies said that the award, in the Business Service Innovation category, celebrates the work that vendors and operators are doing together to develop innovative projects in order to better serve customers. Bell Aliant and Genband were presented the award in recognition of their outstanding innovation and collaboration in Business Unified Communications.

"Bell Aliant continues to lead the way on innovation for our business customers," said Kelly Duplisea, Vice President, Business Market at Bell Aliant. "Being recognized as a global leader alongside Genband is very encouraging as we continue our commitment to provide our customers with the most efficient, advanced and flexible options available in the market. Best of all, with our hosted Unified Communications solution, customers have the security and confidence of knowing their communications needs are being managed by an experienced, leading edge provider." Genband said it enhances Bell Aliant Unified Communications solution by providing key technologies, including the company's recently announced SPiDR WebRTC Gateway, that allow customers to compete in an evolving market. Genband SPiDR enables real-time communications, such as video, voice and IM to be launched within a browser with the click of a mouse.

Further, working together, Bell Aliant and Genband successfully deployed this new capability, ensuring customers receive enhanced browser-based capabilities that allow for collaboration and anywhere connectivity. It also allows for increased employee efficiency and productivity, while driving overall cost savings to organizations.

"WebRTC is one of the most talked about new technologies in the industry," said B.G. Kumar, President of the Multimedia Business Unit for Genband. "This leading edge WebRTC deployment across one of North America's largest networks demonstrates the market opportunities of this innovative technology and illustrates GENBAND's ongoing investment in rich communications and mobility applications that allow customers, like Bell Aliant, to redefine the broadband experience for the marketplace." Bell Aliant's Unified Communications service provides enhanced collaboration and connectivity, without the business disruption associated with buying a stand-alone system. With Bell Aliant UC, large and mid-sized business customers can connect their phone, PC and mobile devices so they can access their office voice line and features. Bell Aliant manages and maintains the fully hosted service.

"This is the seventh time we've run our Innovation Awards and each year we've seen that the industry is working harder and harder to deliver exciting and innovative services to its customers worldwide," said Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business. "Congratulations to all the award winners. The industry is seeing a wave of innovation which is making a huge difference - to the companies working in the industry and to all of us in business and as consumers. They are making such a difference to the world. We want to celebrate what they are doing."
