Quantenna announced availability of new QSR1000 family

Jun 17, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Quantenna Communications, Inc., a provider of semiconductor solutions for Wi-Fi networks, has announced the availability of 4x4 MU-MIMO 802.11ac chipset, the QSR1000 family.

According to the company, the QSR1000 supports the latest Wave 2 802.11ac specification. It combines Quantenna's 4x4 architecture with multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology, dynamic-digital beamforming and support for four spatial streams to deliver unsurpassed performance, range, reliability and coverage. Equally at home in access points, set-top boxes and consumer electronics, the QSR1000 is suited to multimedia applications.

With almost 2Gbps total throughput, it streams carrier-grade IPTV to multiple devices in full 1080p or 4K Ultra HD resolution, reaching through concrete walls and into every corner of multistory homes. Quantenna's 4x4 solutions are compliant and work with all third-party clients and consumer devices in any MIMO configuration (e.g. 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4).

Quantenna's QSR1000 802.11ac chipset features: industry standard-based 802.11ac chipset capable of 1.7Gbps; Wave 2 support; 4x4 MIMO with 4 spatial streams; 256QAM; MU-MIMO (Multi-User MIMO); transmit beamforming; system on chip (SOC) enabling full host CPU offload; and standards-based, interoperates with all third-party 802.11ac and 802.11n devices, the company added.

Dr Sam Heidari, CEO of Quantenna, said: "By the end of this year, 802.11ac Wi-Fi will be widely deployed in smartphones and tablets driving the need for Wave 2 to enable the most efficient use of the available spectrum. In a real-world BYOD 802.11ac environment, Wave 2 Wi-Fi is not a convenience but a necessity.

"Applications like wireless HDTV streaming need to work flawlessly. With the QSR1000, we've created the only Wi-Fi solution in the world that outperforms our groundbreaking 802.11n solution. In addition to our pioneering 4x4 MIMO and beamforming technology, it introduces multi-user MIMO and other Wave 2 enhancements. We have set a new bar for Wi-Fi innovation, generations ahead of any other available solution." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
