Research and Markets Adds Report: 2013 Real-Time Convergent ChargingJun 17, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Real-Time Convergent Charging" report to its offerings. In a release, Research and Markets noted that report highlights include: For the first time in recent memory, service providers are faced with a technology choice that doesn't depend on reducing the cost of operations as its primary benefit. Important, yes, but introducing new services and growth as the primary objective can renew the spirit of any operations team and unleash a welcome wave of creativity. True, real-time convergent charging (RTCC) at its core is a revenue management solution, but the technology underpinning it has transformed to extend the concept of real time far beyond prepaid to include converged services, customer interactions and service delivery. It can change customers' experience as they use services, and so can be seen as a customer experience management tool, and an enabler of customer self-care, a service delivery component, a marketing weapon, a business intelligence tool and a mechanism for managing partners. As one wireless operator interviewed for this report said, RTCC has become a solution with the potential to fulfill one big bundle of need. Our research shows why RTCC should be a priority for service providers. Through a series of in-depth interviews with operators from across the globe, we discover just how far they have come in transforming their businesses into agile and creative competitors using the tools supplied by RTCC and the ecosystems sprouting up around it. We explore how the evolution of real-time charging is on-going and why it will stay that way. RTCC implementations have shown that every transformation has a sequel, and that sequel is being written even before the original is in production. Regardless of where service providers are on their timeline for implementing RTCC, they are already considering next steps in the process. Convergence and integration remain formidable challenges. Although the path is clearer, hazards lurk in the woods on either side, including shrinking margins, market saturation, the cost and complexity of multiple network technologies, and voracious competitors apparently determined to frustrate service providers' efforts to complete their transformation. Still, the report concludes, operating in the manner enabled by RTCC is like the difference between positive action and protectionism, between being on the offensive rather than the defensive: Like eliminating the word no from the CIO's vocabulary.
