Kodak introduces new SCANMATE i940 scanner for MACINTOSH computersJun 14, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Eastman Kodak Company, a provider of imaging and photographic equipment, materials and services, has announced that its document imaging business has introduced KODAK SCANMATE i940 scanner, a new document management solution for users of APPLE MACINTOSH computers, to organize, manage, and share digital files and scanned documents. The KODAK SCANMATE i940 Scanner for MACINTOSH Computers features precision capture for increased image accuracy, paper handling for process efficiency, and bundled software applications. Kodak worked with NewSoft to integrate Kodak's Perfect Page technology and NEWSOFT PRESTO! PAGEMANAGER 9 Software into the SCANMATE i940 for MAC. This combination enables users can to locate, access, edit, organize and share from the software's easy-to-navigate interface. According to the company, the integration delivers enhanced functionality from Kodak including the simultaneous creation of color and black-and-white versions of documents. Other imaging features help to correct and improve document quality with auto-cropping, image rotation, electronic color dropout, image merge, image edge fill, content-based blank page removal and automatic brightness and contrast. The application also provides optical character recognition (OCR) and an all-in-one PageViewer for editing or annotating documents. User productivity is maximized with customizable scan buttons within the PAGEMANAGER Application that provide shortcuts to favorite files and applications. Efficient document viewing is made possible with search functionality by file type or file name. PDF management tools include split and merge, file formatting options, PDF annotation and file stacking. The SCANMATE i940 for MAC also includes NEWSOFT PRESTO! BIZCARD XPRESS Software for managing contact information scanned from business cards. The i940 Scanner for MAC connects via USB 2.0 and outputs to JPEGand PDF file formats, the company said. With a recommended daily volume of up to 500 pages per day, the SCANMATE i940 for MAC can hold up to 20 documents at a time from its automatic document feeder (ADF). The scanner, when AC-powered, captures images from documents at 20 pages per minute (ppm) at 200 dots per inch (dpi) in black and white or grayscale and up to 15 ppm at 200 dpi in color. Its USB-power option enables imaging at up to 8 ppm at 200 dpi. The ADF can also handle small documents such as identification cards, business cards, insurance cards and embossed hard cards, the company added.
