Financial Capability Development Competition Names Demo Day Judges


Jun 14, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- The Financial Capability Development Competition has announced the judges for the FinCapDev $100K Demo Day.

According to a release, the Demo Day features $100,000 in cash prizes-including a $50,000 grand prize-and will take place at 6 p.m. PST on June 18 at the Capital One 360 Cafe in San Francisco.

The judges are: Meghan Casserly, Senior Writer, Forbes Kaaren Hanson, Vice President, Design Innovation, Intuit Jesse Middleton, Co-Founder, WeWork Labs Hans Roderich, Venture Partner, Azure Capital Matt Wallaert, Behavioral Scientist, Bing "We're thrilled to have such a diverse collection of experts on the panel," said Timothy Flacke, Executive Director of the D2D Fund, a FinCapDev administering organization. "The participation of such a high-impact group of judges will not only make for an exciting, engaging demo day, but it also speaks to the rapidly expanding growth of the FinCapDev ecosystem." FinCapDev is made possible thanks to financial support of the Ford Foundation, the Citi Foundation, and Omidyar Network and is administered by the D2D Fund and the Center for Financial Services Innovation.

"This is a big moment for FinCapDev finalists," said Jennifer Tescher, President and CEO of the Center for Financial Services Innovation, a FinCapDev administering organization. "They're gearing up to present their apps and now they know exactly who they'll be demoing to. Needless to say, the FinCapDev $100K Demo Day is going to be a great event." The Financial Capability Development Competition is a $100,000 challenge to develop new mobile apps to help working Americans make smart financial choices and get better access to financial services.
