BRIEF: DataChambers opens data center in Kannapolis

Jun 13, 2013 (Winston-Salem Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- DataChambers said Wednesday it plans to open a data center in the N.C. Research Campus in Kannapolis, giving the company an expanded presence in the Charlotte market.

DataChambers, of Winston-Salem, provides electronic data storage and information technology services. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of North State Communications of High Point, having been bought in December 2011.

The company is working with Castle & Cooke Inc., the research park's developers, to build a 50,000-square-foot center that is expected to have at least 20 employees.

The center will provide services, such as hosted and cloud-based infrastructure solutions, around-the-clock network management, and a variety of data backup and business continuity solutions.

The company is the 18th tenant for the research park. It also includes the Murdock Research Institute and five corporate, two health-care and nine academic groups.

DataChambers established a presence in the Triangle in September by buying a former Qwest Communications facility in Raleigh, which included a 50,000-square-foot building and 8-acre property. It also has two data centers in Winston-Salem.
