Alaska Communications expands hosted voice over internet service in Alaska

Jun 10, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Alaska Communications, a provider of broadband, local, and long-distance solutions, has expanded its hosted voice over internet service for businesses in South central Alaska.

Voice over Internet is a cloud-based phone system that allows businesses to access their enterprise phone system on any device any where they are connected, the company said.

"Voice over Internet is the future of business communication. It will do for businesses what the smartphone did for consumers in terms of how they use their phone. Voice over Internet allows you to keep your data, staff and clients close at hand. You can connect your computer, smartphone, tablet and other devices anytime, when and where you want. It also offers customers simple manageability; it's an intuitive phone system that doesn't require a full-time staff to manage," said Eric Lazo, Alaska Communications vice president of product and marketing.

Alaska Communications Voice over Internet includes business-class applications for mobile voice management and is supported by a broadband data service in Alaska to receive the Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum, the company added.

Features of Alaska Communications Voice over Internet include Alaska voice mobile app for smartphone, tablet and PC; customer web-portal administrator for do-it-yourself changes; music on hold; premium auto attendant; simultaneous ring; and visual voicemail.
