Currently, Proximus's 3G mobile network offers a coverage of 99% Over the first three months of 2013, mobile data traffic on the Proximus network doubled compared to the same period in 2012, and use of mobile Internet is expected to explode in the next few years. That is why Proximus is investing continuously in order to offer the most extensive network and the fastest download and upload speed. The best network coverage and the highest speed According to a study by CommSquare, Proximus offers the most extensive 3G mobile network of Belgium. This study examines the quality of the Belgian networks with the help of several measurement devices, making over 10.000 voice calls and 5000 data sessions on an itinerary of 6000 km. This drive test shows that Proximus covers more than 99% of the route. With the upgrading of the 3G network into 3G+, Proximus also continues to increase its download and upload speed. Currently, Proximus customers benefit from speeds up to 21 Mbps with the latest generation of mobile devices, which is three times as fast as in 2012, and up to 42 Mbps with devices featuring 3G+ technology. The first 4G network Proximus is the first operator in Belgium to market the latest generation of mobile Internet, namely the 4G network. Ultra-fast Internet is already available in over 100 Belgian towns. Through this extension, Proximus's 4G network will attain a coverage of 35% by June. Users surfing on the go via their compatible smartphone, tablet, or laptop will therefore be able to benefit from a surfing experience comparable to that provided by their fixed connection at home or in the office. A reinforced network at more than 260 events every year Every year, Belgacom and Proximus very closely monitor more than 260 events in Belgium. For smaller events, such as the Binche Carnival or Suikerrock at Tirlemont, Proximus boosts the capacity of its existing infrastructures. For bigger events, as well as strengthening its existing infrastructures, Belgacom puts in place a temporary mobile infrastructure. During the 20 biggest events of 2012, mobile Internet use was four times greater than that in 2011. The Rock Werchter festival, for example, attracts an average of 85,000 people per day. Proximus deploys five temporary mobile stations on the 3 km² area of the event. The installation of these antennas requires the collaboration of a team of 40 people before the festival and about 10 technicians/engineers during the concerts. In the space of four years, the capacity of the mobile Internet network has been multiplied by 100 at this festival to meet the constantly growing demand. (c) 2013 Euclid Infotech Pvt. Ltd.
