Ventev Wireless unveils new Wi-Fi hotspot and outdoor enclosure systems

Jun 06, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Ventev Wireless Infrastructure, a division of TESSCO Technologies Inc., has announced the introduction of a portable hotspot for temporary venues, and outdoor enclosure systems for indoor access points including an integrated, single-input Powered-over-Ethernet, or PoE, enclosure system independent of AC power.

The new hotspot is a self-contained enclosure system designed to accommodate network switches and up to four Wi-Fi access points. The hotspot is designed to enable deployment, can be customized for any brand of access point, and supports users. The 24 inches x 24 inches x 10 inches polycarbonate enclosure features PoE surge suppression and coaxial cable lightning protection, the company said.

In addition, the company also unveiled outdoor enclosure systems for indoor access points. Ventev Wireless Infrastructure has engineered solutions that enable networks to be built out, using access points from Cisco, Aruba and more. The integrated outdoor enclosure system portfolio includes four models: the PoE-Only System, the Non-Powered System (an enclosure with integrated grounding where heating and cooling are not necessary), the PoE & AC System (a heated and cooled solution for sites where AC already exists), and the UPS System (for critical applications where system uptime is required during power outages).

The PoE-Only System is an integrated outdoor enclosure solution with single PoE-only input. It allows an access point from Cisco or Aruba to be positioned in virtually any outdoor environment. The savings in installation time and cost is substantial since the PoE-Only System can be deployed where there is no AC power. With heating and cooling capability built into the system, companies can deploy networks even where temperature variations exist, the company added.

"The products we are featuring at CTIA are important innovations that make taking Wi-Fi outside much easier and more cost effective," said Jeff Lime, vice president, Ventev Wireless Infrastructure. "These turnkey systems enable data networks to be extended where and when customers need them." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
