ZTE wins Alibaba's 100G optical transmission network project, reportBEIJING, Jun 05, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China's leading telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE Corp. (000063.SZ) has exclusively won a 100G optical transmission network (OTN) project of Alibaba Group and become a long-term partner of the latter's broadband network construction, according to a report by China Securities Journal on Thursday. The first-phase of the OTN 100G project covers four metropolitan area networks in Hangzhou, Tianjin and Beijing and will adopt ZTE's ZX-ONE 8700 100G OTN series products. The project is expected to carry most of Alibaba's network business upon completion and place a solid network foundation for Alibaba's rapid development in the long term. Currently, Alibaba Group, the biggest e-commerce enterprise in China, owns 12 subsidiaries such as Alibaba B2B, Taobao.com, Tmall.com, Alipay.com, Aliyun.com, Cn.yahoo.com, and Etao.com.
