(AME Info (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) May 23--EMERGING SOFTWARE MARKETS POST FOURTH YEAR OF GROWTH: IDC: IDC has said the software market of Middle East and other emerging markets have reported a growth of 7.2 percent year-on-year in 2012. This was the fourth consecutive year of solid growth in these emerging markets, enabling them to collectively gain more than two points of worldwide market share over this period. The global software market grew 3.6 percent year-on-year last year, less than half the growth rate experienced in 2010 and 2011, said IDC.

DELL SCRAPS PLANS FOR PUBLIC CLOUD SERVICE: Dell has decided to not set up its public cloud and will instead rely on partners such as Joyent to provide infrastructure services, TechCrunch has reported. The PC maker said its current public cloud service would be discontinued in favour of offerings from other partners, and that it will work with open cloud infrastructure partners, OpenStack, to help customers develop the right solution.
