China Mobile Beijing Apr non-voice sector takes up 50pct-plus revenueBEIJING, May 24, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- The Beijing branch of China Mobile (C HL.NYSE; 00941.HK) saw its non-voice sector contribute more than 50 pe rcent of its total revenue in April, said Liu Dianfeng, vice general m anager with the Beijing unit. Speaking on the 16th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo o n Thursday, Liu attributed the change of revenue structure to the fast growth of cell phone traffic. The country's largest telecom operator by subscribers lagged behi nd its rival with its non-voice sector only took up some 34 percent of its revenue in 2012 while the corresponding ratio of China Unicom (CH U.NYSE; 00762.HK; 600050.SH) reached 53.2 percent last year. In response, China Mobile is speeding up its 4G development, aimi ng to have its 4G network covering over 100 Chinese cities and purchas ing over 1 million 4G terminals this year, according to its TD-LTE dev elopment plan unveiled earlier at the 2013 World Mobile Congress.
