Amphenol Aerospace launches new fibre optic connection options

May 24, 2013 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) -- New York-based interconnect technologies provider Amphenol Aerospace (NYSE: APH) said it is offering ARINC 801 fiber optic connector options featuring enhanced configurability.

In addition to supplying ARINC 801 connectors in standard OD Cadmium and Electroless Nickel platings, Amphenol Aerospace now offers these connectors with Durmalon and Black Zinc Nickel, both of which are RoHS compliant platings.

According to the firm, these non-magnetic and non-reflective finishes are ideal for military and harsh environments where resistance to salt spray and other materials is critical.

The ARINC 801 plug connectors can be combined with Amphenol's Dualok technology for superior performance in high vibration environments. Dualok is an enhanced anti-decoupling mechanism that can be used on virtually any cylindrical plug connector and backshell.

Amphenol said that the Dualok interconnect system greatly improves electrical and optical performance in harsh environments and will mate with standard receptacles.

The firm supplies a full line of ARINC 801 connectors in shell sizes ranging from 11 to 25 and fiber counts from 2 to 32. ARINC 801 termini are available in multimode, single-mode, and single-mode APC versions.

All ARINC 801 connectors and termini are fully compliant with industry specifications and have been tested to the most stringent aerospace requirements.

Amphenol also maintains full-service cable assembly facilities to design and fabricate any type of fiber optic cable harness from simple jumper cables to multi-branched harnesses.

Amphenol Aerospace is a developer of interconnection technologies for the military and commercial aerospace industries.
