[May 23, 2013] Business Digest: May 24, 2013: New Leaf opens Store No. 8 Tweet PLEASANTON, May 23, 2013 (Santa Cruz Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- New Leaf opens store No. 8 Santa Cruz-based New Leaf Community Markets opened a store in Pleasanton. The opening marks the eighth store in the chain. The store has a staff of nearly 100 and contains familiar features such as organic produce and meats, sustainable seafood, deli, salad bar, antipasti bar, hot bar, juice bar, sushi, gourmet cheeses and local wines. Hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The deli manager is Patrick Pieper, who grew up in Aptos and earned a promotion after working two years at New Leaf's Westside store. The Santa Cruz-based organic and natural foods grocery now employs about 600 people, not counting the licensed stores in Felton and Boulder Creek. The 19,000-square-foot Pleasanton store is at 3550 Bernal Ave. in the Vintage Hills Shopping Center. SANTA CRUZ Verizon offers workshops Verizon Wireless will host free workshops this week and next for customers to learn more about its 4G LTE network allowing them to share music and photos and download files up to 10 times faster than before.
