[May 23, 2013] Capital Concerts: American Idol Winner Candice Glover Joins National Memorial Day Concert Line-up Tweet May 23, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Capital Concerts announced the National Memorial Day Concert will include American Idol's newly crowned winner, Candice Glover, when she graces the stage at the U.S. Capitol this Memorial Day weekend to perform the "National Anthem," honoring the service and sacrifice of all our men and women in uniform, their families at home and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. According to a release, the concert will air live in HD on PBS from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on Sunday, May 26, 2012 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. ET (check local listings) before an on-site audience of hundreds of thousands, millions more at home, as well as to our troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network. "For three years I sang the 'National Anthem' for marine graduates' families at a meet and greet program," said Glover. "I'm so excited that I can graduate from that and sing the 'National Anthem' at the Capitol. It means so much to me." The multi program will be co-hosted for the eighth year by Joe Mantegna (Criminal Minds) and Gary Sinise (CSI: New York), two actors who have dedicated themselves to veterans causes and supporting our troops in active service. In addition to Glover, the all-star line-up also includes: Colin Powell, actor Ed Harris; Katherine Jenkins; singer-songwriter Chris Mann; and tenor Alfie Boe; in performance with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly. This American tradition will air live on PBS Sunday, May 26, from 8 to 9:30 p.m., from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol before a concert audience of hundreds of thousands, millions more at home, as well as to troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network.
