EnGenius Enhances Long-Range Cordless Phone System with TAP Support CapabilityMay 23, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- EnGenius Technologies, Inc., a provider in long-range wireless voice and data solutions for homes and businesses, has enhanced the capabilities of DuraFon PRO, the industry's longest-range industrial cordless phone system, with the announcement of the new TAP support capability. According to a release, the new TAP feature enables users to send text messages to system handsets using Telelocator Alphanumeric Protocol signaling. With the ability to send text messages to one or all of an organization's DuraFon PRO handsets via TAP-enabled systems such as nurse call systems or by using EnGenius' PC-based application, users can increase organizational efficiencies, improve operations and even enhance safety procedures. "Having both the phone and a pager functionality in one device means less equipment for staff members to carry while remaining mobile and connected to each other and their patients/residents," explained Myles Cochran, Director of Marketing for Jeron Electronic Systems. "Provider nurse call systems can use both modes of DuraFon operation by routing calls directly to an assigned caregiver to answer their patient's/resident's call and to send text messages to one or more caregivers for group alerts." "We're very excited about the addition of the TAP feature to our DuraFon system because it truly transforms the long-range cordless phone into a long-range communication solution," explained Alex Wei, product manager at EnGenius. "The ability to send text messages to any or all of the deployed handsets opens up a world of efficiency-enhancing applications in retail, warehouses, hospitality, and other industries. Also, the ability to silently broadcast text messages to a single handset or simultaneously to multiple cordless handsets reduces overhead paging in retail stores and can enhance security measures such as rapidly transmitting Code Adam alerts in retail stores or broadcasting urgent messages to administrators on school campuses." The EnGenius DuraFon 1X and DuraFon PRO Long Range, Industrial Cordless Phone Systems are compatible with any analog PBX, VoIP, PSTN, FXS, or POTS port, adding extreme wireless range to the company telephone system and enabling users to move freely throughout buildings or properties. The scalable DuraFon PRO system can support up to four ports or lines per base unit, and can be expanded to support up to 32 ports using eight base units, to wirelessly extend communications to up to 90 ruggedized DuraFon PRO or DuraWalkie handsets. The Company said that key features of the DuraFon Industrial Cordless Phone System include: -Extreme range and industrial design to wirelessly extend the PBX system in large, harsh, complex environments; -Supports durable, ruggedized DuraFon long-range cordless handsets and DuraWalkie 2-way radio handsets; -Wireless full-duplex intercom and broadcast page half-duplex (PTT) between DuraFon PRO and DuraWalkie handsets; -DuraFon PRO is compatible with paging protocols such as TAP providing the ability to send text pages to DuraFon PRO handsets. -Auto attendant and speakerphone.
