Shop staff locked in to low pay


May 22, 2013 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Employers are exploiting a provision in workplace laws to keep the pay rates of young employees at lower levels. National Retail Association members have been signing fast-food workers to short-term workplace agreements. The agreements lock employees indefinitely into pay rates that are lower than modern award rates, which rise from 1 July 2013.
