BRIEF: Marion "Bud" Keyes IV, former president of Bailey Controls, dies at age 75

May 22, 2013 (The News-Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Marion A. "Bud" Keyes IV, who served as president of the former Bailey Controls in Wickliffe in the 1980s, has died at age 75.

Keyes, who held the president's post at Bailey from 1980 to 1985, died Friday in St. Louis, said Edward Gabrosek, who once served a spokesman and media relations official for Bailey.

Keyes joined Bailey in 1975 as vice president of engineering. He was instrumental in developing Network 90, the firm's first microprocessor-based control system, Gabrosek said. The system and its successor, INFI 90, enabled Bailey to attain a long-held goal of diversifying from a predominantly electric utility control supplier to the process control market, he said.

In 1985, Keyes was promoted to group vice president of Babcock & Wilcox, which was then the parent company of Bailey Controls. He later left the company to join Emerson Electric in St. Louis.
