PTCL President gets extension(Flare (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mr. Walid Irshaid, President and Group CEO, Pakistan Telecommumcation Company Limited (PTC) and Ufone has been given two years Service extension, the decision was taken-up in PTCL's Board of Directors meeting, in Islamabad. Other important issues were also discussed during the BoD meeting, where for the better progress, of the company, the service extension issue was discussed and the board agreed upon to grant Mr. Irshaid, 2 years extension to utilize his expertise for the development and progress of PTCL. Under the leadership of Mr. Walid, PTCL has become a well managed and sophisticated organization winch has achieved unprecedented growth over the last few years. PTCL is undoubtedly the single-largest telecom carrier in Pakistan. The Company has licenses to operate in a host of ICT segments, including fixed and wireless local loop telephony, mobile cellular telephony, and both wirekss and wire-line broadband services. The Ufone brand of Pakistan Telecom Mobile Ltd - the wholly-owned subsidiary ol VFUL - significantly enlarges the company's footprint on the local telecom scene. The telecom giant also provides core infrastructure services to cellular companies, LDIs, FLI. operators. lSPs, call centres and payphone operators. In April 2006, Emirates Telecommunication Corporation, Etisalat. assumed management control of FTCi. -. part of the 2.6 billion dollars deal to buy a 26 percent stake in PTCL. After Etisalat has took the management of the company, PTCL never look back but moving forward on the way to success and growt . PTCL's revenue streams include PSTN lines, wireless local loop telephony, broadband services, corporate business solutions, carrier services and international business (LDI), voice segment used to be PTCL's bread and butter. but since after the telecom sectors deregulation in Pakistan and due to shilling telecom customer preferences (more SMS than phone calls) and declining voice tarilfs, the segment's share in revenues came down to just over 40 percent; where PTCL change its gears towards broadband and hence never back down then, today PTCL is the broadband giant and the king of speed and innovation. It's a positive sign for the company's shareholders that the deterioration in non-voice revenues is now being more than offset by the gains emanating from non-voice segments, like broadband and corporate services. This was also visible in the company's financial reports where P1'CL recorded top line growth. Triple play services of voice, data and video - all served on a single line - max take a while to gain moment in Pakistan. But when that happens, PTCL is ideally poised to lead the market as it possesses the spectrum, networks and inirastructure to deliver high quaLity services. |
