Mainland Opening Telecom Licenses to Private FirmsBEIJING, May 22, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Mainland China is opening telecom industry to private investors and more than 60 such companies have applied for IDC and ISP licenses to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Among them, Huawei Technologies and Alibaba Group have passed censorship. As planned, the MIIT will grant licenses to at least six private companies for mobile communication resale service and trial operation of virtual carriers in early June at the soonest and at the end of October at the latest.
