[May 22, 2013] Planview Named 'Strong Positive' in Gartner MarketScope for IT PPM Software Applications Tweet May 22, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Planview has received a "Strong Positive" rating - the highest possible given - in Gartner's newly issued report titled MarketScope for IT Project and Portfolio Management Software Applications. According to a release, the report analyzes project and portfolio management (PPM) vendors who offer on-premises and/or cloud-hosted deployments of their applications, which are designed to help organizations align business strategy with execution while controlling risks and costs. "Organizations are under increasing pressure to quickly deliver differentiated products and services using limited resources, and Planview Enterprise is the answer for more and more of them," said Patrick Tickle, executive vice president of products for Planview. "Whether delivered via the cloud or on-premises, Planview Enterprise provides the functionality and user experience needed across business functions and users to integrate portfolios, plan for the highest value investments, optimize constrained resources, and quickly pivot based on the latest data." According to the Gartner report: "Providers receiving a Strong Positive rating in this MarketScope demonstrate a strong global market presence, depth and breadth in IT PPM functionality and integration to complementary IT software systems, and a strong commitment to cloud hosting that required these providers to make significant internal changes to accommodate a new business model without disrupting current operations." The growth of Planview's cloud offering contributed to record growth in 2012. Overall, 70 percent of new software bookings were SaaS, a 200 percent increase from 2010. In addition, the company achieved 34 percent growth in IT software bookings. Planview grew revenue in its other target markets as well: More than one-third of total software bookings were in line-of-business applications with particular growth in product development and services. In fact, 33 percent of new customers deployed Planview Enterprise across both IT and product development functions, using the product's ability to facilitate more collaborative planning in the delivery of new products and services.
