Transamerica Once Again Teams With Habitat for Humanity in Builds Across the U.S.HARRISON, N.Y. --(Business Wire)-- Some 350 Transamerica (News - Alert) employees will renovate or build new homes in 12 cities across the United States as part of the company's second annual Habitat for Humanity volunteer event being held throughout May. "Decent housing provides more than a roof over someone's head. It offers hope that tomorrow will be better than today," said Kent Callahan, president and CEO of the Employer Solutions and Pensions Division of Transamerica Life Insurance Company. "We had a wonderful experience with our Habitat builds last year, and we're proud to support the organization and the families it serves again." Employees from Transamerica Retirement Solutions, Transamerica Stable Value Solutions, Clark Consulting and the Transamerica COLI/BOLI Service Center business units of the division will participate. The businesses, which serve more than 23,000 employers and 3.2 million workers in the United States, began partnering with Habitat on home builds in 2012. Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit that has built, repaired and renovated more than 600,000 houses, creating affordable housing in partnership with more than three million people around the world. Participating Transamerica employees will gather at their respective build sites for a full day, helping either to transform existing properties or to build new quality, affordable homes in partnership with Habitat partner families. Their efforts will help revitalize neighborhoods in the following cities:
Once complete, each home will be sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. Families are selected through an application process based on level of need and a willingness to partner by investing time and effort, spending hundreds of hours building their home and houses for others.
