Smith Micro Software Q1 net loss decreases


May 21, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Smith Micro Software, Inc., a provider of wireless and mobility solutions, has reported that net loss for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013 was $6.16 million, or $0.17 loss per share, compared to a net loss of $9.68 million, or $0.27 loss per share, for the same quarter ended March 31, 2012.

Revenues for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013 were $11.6 million, compared to $10.11 million for the same quarter ended March 31, 2012.

Gross profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013 was $9.16 million, compared to $7.92 million for the same quarter ended March 31, 2012.


Operating loss for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013 was $6.1 million, compared to an operating loss of $9.6 million for the same quarter ended March 31, 2012.

Total assets as of March 31, 2013 were $50.11 million, compared to $54.39 million, as of December 31, 2012.

William Smith Jr., president and CEO of Smith Micro Software, said: "Our first quarter revenues of $11.6 million were up 14.7 percent from the same period last year primarily due to the deployment of our NetWise Director product and continued growth in our CommSuite (Visual Voicemail and Voice-to-Text) solutions.
