E.ON Sweden Taps Powel Software for Service Delivery Deal

May 21, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- E.ON Elnat Sverige AB (E.ON), part of one a private energy company, has chosen Ericsson to provide a hosted solution including consulting and systems integration services, harnessing big data and smart grid solutions for its customers.

According to a release, Powel ELIN software is included as part of the solution for smart metering data collection, validation and analysis for smart electricity meters in the E.ON Sweden grid. Powel ELIN was chosen as the strategic software solution for Ericsson's Smart Metering as a Service (SMaaS) platform because it supports a variety of meters and data communication technology.

"We are proud to be chosen by Ericsson to provide the management software for this strategic project," Bard Benum, CEO at Powel, said. "The projects at E.ON Sweden are among the largest and most strategic initiatives that we have engaged in so far." Powel ELIN fully supports advanced metering management no matter which brand provides the meters and no matter how the meters communicate.


"That is how we are able to provide the flexibility needed for managing a project of this scale now and in the future," Benum said.

With this deal, E.ON Sweden will consolidate its service providers from several down to two. Ericsson will migrate part of the existing meters to the new solution, while others will be replaced according to the functionality needed for E.ON to stay at the forefront of the market. Ericsson is continuing and extending its current operations in Sweden to support E.ON.
