Airwaves sale's defender

May 20, 2013 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA) chair and CEO Chris Chapman has commented on the recent frequency spectrum auction for the Federal Government. It brought in $A2bn rather than the forecast $A3bn, after telcos made lower bids than expected. However Chapman says there is no need for any review of how ACMA handled the sale process. He has been at the helm of the watchdog body since it was set up in 2005, and says he remains untroubled by the Government's convergence review recommending the abolition of ACMA.
