Accused gunman released from jailMay 20, 2013 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- David Munoz remains hospitalized at Medical Center Hospital after a shooting at Jaguars early Sunday morning. "He is still in serious condition," MCH Director of Public Relations Amber Sweeney said. According to a probable cause affidavit, witnesses at the scene of the crime said 33-year-old Jeremy Lee Rangel, 1306 Castle Road, was in possession of a semi-automatic 9mm handgun. The affidavit states Rangel provided a voluntary statement in which he admitted to possessing and discharging the gun during the incident. Adrian Donacio, 28, was shot in the arm while attempting to stop a fight during which time a surveillance camera indicated Rangel fired the gun at Donacio, the affidavit stated. Rangel exited the club and was confronted by security guards when he allegedly fired the weapon hitting 34-year-old James Wootan in the leg and 21-year-old David Munoz in the chest. "This was a very unfortunate incident," a Jaguars spokesman said in an emailed statement. "Security is the highest priority at all of our clubs. In this case our own security personnel apprehended the alleged perpetrator and held him until the police arrived." Jaguars last made headlines in February when their cameras were allegedly not working the night Arizona man Jason Belin was found in a pond just west of Jaguars after last being seen at the club. Debbie Rangel, the accused gunman's sister, said she disagrees with reports that her brother had a gun at Jaguars because he was searched by security when entering the business. "My whole thing is the club needs to be shut down," Debbie Rangel said. "There's a lot of crookedness going on there." Debbie Rangel was not present at the time of the incident but heard from family members that were present that "gunshots were coming from everywhere" and she believes the investigation needs to continue to find out who was shooting. Wootan and Donacio were treated and released from MCH Sunday. Jeremy Lee Rangel has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the crime. He was released from the Ector County Detention Center Monday afternoon with bonds totaling $80,000.
