No trial date set for Gray man charged in robbery

May 20, 2013 (The Times-Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- No trial date has yet been set in the case against a Gray man charged in robbing the A & B Quick Stop in East Bernstadt Dec. 19.

Christopher Raymond Disney, 33, appeared in Laurel County Circuit Court Friday before Judge Tom Jensen for a pretrial conference.

Disney's attorney is Mike Brophy, however, attorney Kelly Ridings stood in for Brophy Friday.

Ridings explained to the court that she understood there to be "some outstanding discovery" that Brophy has yet to receive. That discovery, or evidence, is two video recordings, according to Ridings.

During Disney's preliminary hearing in January, it was learned from Laurel County Detective Daryl Zanet that Disney was identified through surveillance video.

Video was taken from both the Quick Stop and Moberly's Market, which Zanet said helped identify Disney.

Zanet also testified that pants and boots allegedly worn by Disney in the Moberly's store video were the same as what was worn by the armed robber at A & B Quick Stop -- save for the ski mask.

Another pretrial conference in this case has been set for June 21.

Currently according to jail records, Disney remains jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center under two separate cash bonds totaling $75,000 -- $50,000 for first-degree robbery, and $25,000 for persistent felony offender.

According to statements made in court, Disney is jailed under a $25,000 cash bond.

On Dec. 19, an unknown male gunman wearing a ski mask entered the Quick Stop, and with a semi-automatic handgun, robbed the unidentified male clerk.

The gunman fled the scene in a dark-colored car.

Disney turned himself in to law enforcement Christmas Eve and has been in custody since.
