Norden and Harris CapRock extend agreement to add VSAT Communications Services to Norden's global fleet

May 20, 2013 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Norden A/S, an independent shipping company headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Harris CapRock Communications announced on Friday the extension of their agreement, under which Harris CapRock will provide broadband communications to Norden's global fleet of 39 bulk carrier and tanker vessels.

This agreement, financial details of which were not available, expands an initial contract awarded in March 2012 to support 39 vessels.

Under this expanded agreement, Harris CapRock will provide each Norden vessel with end-to-end Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) communications that enables corporate networking, Internet access, voice communications, real-time monitoring and reporting and crew morale services. The turnkey solution includes network design, equipment and installation, service and 24/7 support from Harris CapRock's Customer Support Centre.

Reportedly, until date, Harris CapRock has successfully installed 30 vessels of the Norden fleet.

Harris CapRock Communications, a unit of Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), is a provider of managed satellite and terrestrial communications solutions specifically for remote and harsh environments.
