Chrontel Expands Line of DisplayPort™-to-LVDS Conversion Chips

Chrontel (www.chrontel.com), a leading provider of video interface technologies, today announced a new device for computer, monitor and TV manufacturers that will make existing LVDS displays compatible with the newest high-speed, high-resolution DisplayPort™ standard. Chrontel's new CH7515 DisplayPort Receiver / LVDS Transmitter enables all-in-one computers, TVs and display monitors to convert DisplayPort video signals generated by a CPU or GPU into LVDS, which is still widely used as a display interface.

The CH7515 is the latest product update of Chrontel's popular DisplayPort-to-LVDS product line, which offers a range of similar devices at various display resolutions. Chrontel's new CH7515 now supports display resolutions up to QSXGA (2560 x 2048 @ 60Hz refresh rates), 4Kx2K @ 24/30Hz or Full 3D HD (1920 x 1080 @120Hz). The device can automatically detect and switch between 2D and 3D displays. Using 4 Main Link Lanes running at either 1.62 Gb/s or 2.7 Gb/s, the new CH7515 is compliant with both DisplayPort (DP) version 1.1a an embedded DisplayPort (eDP) version 1.2. The device utilizes 4 LVDS output channels to support LVDS panels with 3D capability, or to drive large resolution LVDS panels for TVs and monitors. In addition, the device supports I2S and S/PDIF audio format output.

Pricing and Availability

Chrontel CH7515 samples are currently available, and production volumes will be available in June 2013. The device is offered in a 128-pin TQFP package. The new device will be available at USD 8.00/ea. in high volume.
