China's smartphone sales up 141.5 pct y-o-y to 75.28 mln in Q1, AnalysysBEIJING, May 20, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- The sales of smartphones in China in th e first quarter of 2013 increased by 141.5 percent year on year, or 32 .2 percent from the previous quarter, to 75.28 million units, Analysys International, a leading information provider in China's Internet mar ket, reported on Monday. In the first quarter, the shipment of cell phones climbed 34.8 perc ent from a year earlier to 90.54 million units, of which the shipment of non-smartphones tumbled 20.71 million units year on year to 15.26 m illion. In other words, the shipment of smartphones was five times tha t of non-smartphones, compared with a ratio of 0.8:1 in the first quar ter of 2012. Analysys attributed the growth to China Mobile's promotion of smart phones thanks to the maturity of its 3G network, the impact of OTT ser vices on signaling resources on the 2G network, and slots obtained ahe ad of the 4G network operation. Smartphone vendors including Samsung, Lenovo, and Huawei all enjoyed significant sales growth in the first q uarter of 2013.
