Eaton expands 5P UPS product line in North AmericaMay 20, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Eaton Corporation plc, a power management company, has expanded its 5P uninterruptible power system, or UPS, product line in North America to include space-saving tower, 1U and 2U rackmount form factors. "With the addition of the new 5P series models, Eaton sets a new standard for UPS versatility and flexibility to help customers enhance business continuity in server room and network closet applications," said Herve Tardy, vice president and general manager, Eaton's Distributed Power Quality Division. "By combining intuitive energy management features, robust power management software and unmatched power density, the 5P series delivers great value in a compact footprint." The 5P models are designed to integrate with Eaton's virtualization-ready Intelligent Power Software Suite, a pairing of power management and protection software. By integrating the software suite with the 5P, users can manage their entire power infrastructure remotely and directly through virtualization management platforms, including VMware vCenter Server, Citrix XenServer, Microsoft SCVMM, Red Hat and other Xen open source platforms. The integration enables automatic and transparent live migration of virtual machines (VMs) during power disruptions to unaffected devices, and also provides shutdown of computers, VMs and servers during an extended power outage, the company said. The new Eaton 5P tower and rackmount models range from 550 VA (420 W) to 3,000 VA (2,700 W). All models feature Eaton's ABM technology, which is designed to increase battery service life by 50 percent, and are backed by a three-year warranty, including batteries, the company added. http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
